While it is important to remember that it is a risky destination, Pakistan remains a country with a lot to offer. From the high mountains of the North to the coasts of the Arabian Sea, the landscapes are sumptuous. Colorful trucks, overcrowded rickshaws, and cricket parties add to the charm of the country. Pakistan stretches over nearly 800,000 square kilometers and has around 200 million souls, is more than that.

If you want to enjoy each impressive and fantastic point of your tour, nothing can take the place of your own car. If you don’t have your own vehicle, you can travel on public transport, train, or airplane. But in these transports, you’ll not get the freedom of the journey. So, it’s preferable to hire a car from a reliable rental company to travel to Pakistan’s top cities. If you don’t know where to visit these holidays, here is the list of Pakistan’s top cities to travel to attractive places.

KARACHI

The country’s largest city is a buzzing shopping center. It has hi-tech electronics stores mingle with bazaars, and old shabby apartment buildings stand alongside brand-new luxury hotels. Very extensive, Karachi proves challenging to visit on foot and rent a car, or a rickshaw quickly becomes essential.

The Quaid-i-Azam Mausoleum, which houses the remains of Ali Jinnah, is a good place to start. More impressive, the great white marble Masjid-i-Tuba mosque has an impressive dome.

Other places to visit, include the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and St Andrew’s Church (two fine examples of Anglo-Indian architecture), the zoo as well as the Zoroastrian Towers of Silence, where the dead are traditionally offered to vultures. To the south of the city, Clifton is a former British resort, now popular with wealthy Pakistanis. Although famous, Clifton Beach is unattractive.

The one on Manora Island is less crowded.

In the city center, Saddar’s district is full of lively markets. Here you will be sold from carpets to fur coats, leather jackets, snakeskin wallets, or silk scarves. You will find the largest selection of artisanal products in the whole country, as well as many food stalls, budget restaurants, and most inexpensive hotels in the city.

LAHORE

It is the capital of Punjab. It is considered the cultural, ethnic, and artistic center of the country. Lahore is the most visited city in Pakistan. You can easily understand “WHY” by discovering its shaded parks and gardens. It is the mixture of Mughal and colonial architecture, or the glamorous charm of its lively streets and bustling bazaars. Among the must-see visits are:

  • The Lahore Museum, arguably the largest and most impressive in the whole country;
  • Kim’s Gun, the canon immortalized by Rudyard Kipling in his great classic Kim;
  • Aitchison College, a magnificent building where Imran Khan once studied;
  • The beautiful Shahi Qila, or Lahore Fort, historic Minar-e-Pakistan and the Shalimar Gardens’ captivating scenery are also the most visited Lahore places.

The Anarkali Bazaar, Liberty Market, and the Mall of Lahore, Emporium Mall, and Packages Mall are excellent shopping places. Moreover, the old town’s narrow streets where rickshaws, peddlers, and veiled women rub shoulders.

Located 250 km south of Islamabad, Lahore is served by a plethora of foreign and local transport and rental car companies. Long trips abroad can be made in comfortable, air-conditioned buses, but you will also find many minibusses on-site for shorter trips. Regarding railways, Lahore is on the mainline between Karachi and Peshawar, and direct trains run regularly to major cities.

AZAD KASHMIR

Azad Kashmir is a self-governing political entity. It borders the Pakistan province of Punjab to the south and KPK to the west. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are still part of Pakistan, despite their political autonomy.

In Muzaffarabad, you can head-up to Pir Chinasi at the peak of 2,900 meters and take in the city’s pictorial view. Let your eyes feast on more beauty with tranquil waters of Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley, Leepa Valley, and Shardah Valley. In these valleys, Shounter Lake, Ratti Gali Lake, and Chitta Katha Lake will mesmerize you.

Visit the Azad Kashmir city Rawalakot, to fascinate with Nergola Waterfall and the picturesque Banjosa Lake.
